## Description

Lying on the Shabelle River in the Somali Region of south-eastern Ethiopia, Gode Airport serves a town in the hot Ogaden lowlands, an area known for livestock and for oil and gas exploration. Ethiopian Airlines connects Gode to Addis Ababa, with traffic that is overwhelmingly domestic and aimed at linking a remote, thinly populated region. The airport has no significant freight infrastructure, so scheduled cargo is handled through the national hub at Addis Ababa Bole and its Ethiopian Cargo terminal. Roads link Gode to Jijiga and the highlands, but there is no rail connection. For freight forwarders, Gode remains a feeder point whose international consignments move almost entirely via Bole.
