## Description

Roughly 595,000 passengers used Gobernador Horacio Guzmán International Airport (JUJ, ICAO SASJ) in 2025, a volume built on Aerolíneas Argentinas services to Buenos Aires and on tourism to the Quebrada de Humahuaca. The picture shifted in August 2026, when Paraguayan carrier Paranair launched Asunción–Jujuy–Iquique and Asunción–Santa Cruz de la Sierra–Jujuy services under Argentine Resolution 9/2026, which authorises both passengers and cargo on those corridors; JOY Airline adds a domestic base from September 2026 with twelve weekly flights to Buenos Aires and seven to Córdoba. Even so, the airport has no dedicated cargo terminal or bonded warehouse: air freight moves as belly cargo, and the 2,950 m runway and roughly 5,000 m² terminal are configured for passengers. Provincial exports — tobacco, sugar and inbound supplies for the lithium industry of the Puna — therefore continue to reach Buenos Aires-Ezeiza (EZE) by road, with Salta Airport (SLA) some 100 road kilometres away as the nearer alternative. The field also hosts firefighting aircraft under Argentina's national fire management plan. For forwarders, JUJ is a passenger airport whose new cross-border routes are worth watching rather than an established cargo gateway.
