## Description

Between Gloucester and Cheltenham, on the edge of the Cotswolds, Staverton is the busiest site in British general aviation: Gloucestershire Airport (GLO, ICAO EGBJ) records tens of thousands of movements a year from flight schools, private flyers and business aircraft across three runways, the longest 1,419 metres. Police and air-ambulance helicopters and several aviation firms are based here, but there is no scheduled traffic. No freight is handled — air cargo from Gloucestershire routes via Bristol (BRS, about 70 km) or Birmingham (BHX). In 2025 the owning councils put the loss-making, 350-acre airport up for sale after annual losses exceeding £1 million. For forwarders, GLO stays a pure GA field with no cargo role.
