## Description

Set on a plateau in the southwest of Bahia, Glauber de Andrade Rocha Airport (VDC) serves Vitória da Conquista, a commercial city positioned between the state capital Salvador and Brazil's interior. Opened in 2019 to replace the constrained older field, it is named after the locally born filmmaker Glauber Rocha. The airport is built around regional passenger services and has no significant cargo terminal of its own. Air freight from the surrounding area is moved overland to Salvador International (SSA), which offers customs clearance and links to the main cargo networks. For forwarders, VDC therefore acts as a feeder, with goods travelling along the BR-116 and BR-415 to the coast before uplift. Its newer, longer runway nonetheless leaves room for future cargo growth should demand justify it.
