## Description

Every few minutes a Jeju-bound jet rotates off the runways here — the Gimpo–Jeju link is the busiest air route on earth. West of central Seoul, Gimpo International (GMP) handled the capital's international traffic until Incheon opened in 2001 and now works as the domestic and short-haul airport, with city shuttles to Tokyo Haneda, Osaka Kansai, Shanghai Hongqiao and Taipei Songshan. Freight moves chiefly as belly cargo across the domestic network; Korean Air and Asiana run cargo facilities for documents, e-commerce parcels and fresh produce. A night curfew (23:00–06:00) and the urban location rule out heavy freighters, so international air cargo for the Seoul region is consolidated at Incheon, about 40 minutes away by expressway or AREX rail. GMP also hosts Seoul's business aviation centre with dedicated handling. For forwarders, the field works best as a fast domestic distributor and for urgent short-haul lots to Japan and China.
