## Description

Behind the name Ghedi Air Base, in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, sits the Italian Air Force's 6° Stormo, now converting from the Tornado to the F-35A Lightning II. The 102° and 154° Gruppo (the "Red Devils", from July 2025) already operate the fifth-generation jet, while the 155° Gruppo still flies the Tornado ECR. Ghedi is one of a handful of European bases under NATO nuclear sharing: US B61 bombs are kept in hardened WS3 vaults maintained by the US 704th Munitions Support Squadron, and the base has been upgraded and certified for the F-35A's NATO nuclear role.
