## Description

Qantas Freight Ground Handling accepts and releases cargo on every scheduled flight at Geraldton Airport (GET/YGEL), which makes belly capacity to Perth the airport's entire freight offer: there is no freighter operation and no standalone cargo terminal. Owned and run by the City of Greater Geraldton, the field sits at Moonyoonooka on Western Australia's Mid West coast, roughly 420 km north of Perth (PER) by road, and has been in operation since December 1921. QantasLink and Nexus Airlines fly daily to Perth, with Nexus also serving Karratha (KTA), Port Hedland and Broome; it holds exclusive rights on the Geraldton-Broome route until June 2027. Freight cut-off is 90 to 65 minutes before departure, or 90 to 75 minutes where terminal screening applies, with delivery 10 to 20 minutes after arrival. The region's heavy exports, grain, mineral sands and iron ore, leave through the Port of Geraldton rather than by air. International consolidation and customs clearance are therefore handled in Perth. The main runway has been extended from 1,981 to 2,400 metres, which keeps larger narrowbody charters an option.
