## Description

One runway, a small domestic terminal and no dedicated freight facility: that is the working reality of General José María Yáñez International (GYM, MMGM), the airport of the Sonoran port city of Guaymas in northwestern Mexico. Opened in 1972 and run by the federal operator Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA), it carries domestic passenger services, with only incidental belly cargo and no confirmed freighter operations or air-cargo customs post. Shrimp and fisheries products, mining output and — through the seaport rather than the airport — vehicles from Ford's Hermosillo plant leave the region by sea and road. Air freight for the area consolidates at Hermosillo (HMO), about 130 kilometres to the northwest. Highway 15 links Guaymas to Hermosillo, Ciudad Obregón and the Nogales border corridor into Arizona. Forwarders treat GYM as a feeder point and book air capacity at HMO, Guadalajara (GDL) or Phoenix (PHX).
