## Description

Civil flights left Gangneung on 2 April 2002, when the newly opened Yangyang International (YNY) took over east-coast services and the field reverted fully to military use — today K-18 (KAG / RKNN) hosts the Republic of Korea Air Force's 18th Fighter Wing. There is no passenger terminal, no cargo handling and no customs post, so the code still listed in airline databases carries no freight meaning. Air cargo from Gangwon province is trucked roughly 230 kilometres along the Yeongdong Expressway to Incheon (ICN), South Korea's dominant freight gateway, a two- to three-hour run depending on traffic.
