## Description

With about 122,475 tonnes of cargo handled in 2025, Fuzhou Changle (IATA: FOC) has cemented its role as Fujian's freight hub, and since January 2026 a new all-cargo route has linked the airport directly to East Midlands in the United Kingdom, strengthening its reach into Europe. Electronics, footwear and textiles from Fujian's factory clusters, plus perishable seafood, make up much of what moves through the provincial capital's international airport, which faces Taiwan across the strait and serves cross-strait connections alongside the region's export economy. Named freighter operators include China Postal Airlines, flying to Nanjing and to Clark International Airport in the Philippines, and SF Airlines on domestic runs such as Hangzhou, while Xiamen Airlines adds belly capacity. Customs runs bonded warehousing within the Fujian free-trade zone and the Fuzhou pilot area. Road and high-speed rail tie the airport to Xiamen and the Pearl River Delta. A current expansion targets 36 million passengers and 450,000 tonnes of cargo a year by 2030. Beyond the new Europe route, where volumes still fall short of dedicated long-haul freighters, international air cargo often continues to route via Xiamen, Guangzhou or Shenzhen.
