## Description

Two design figures frame what Fuyuan Dongji Airport (FYJ / ZYFY) can do: an annual capacity of 260,000 passengers and just 1,430 tonnes of cargo at China's easternmost airport, set where the Amur and Ussuri rivers meet about 65 kilometres from Khabarovsk in Russia. The airport opened on 26 May 2014 with a 2,600 metre code 4C runway and lies some 20 kilometres outside the town of Fuyuan. Services are domestic and centre on Harbin; a Chengdu-Harbin-Fuyuan rotation was added in March 2025, while no scheduled international flights to Russia are operated. Freight moves in small volumes in the bellies of passenger aircraft, with no cargo terminal and no air cargo customs office on site. Cross-border trade with Khabarovsk is handled at the Fuyuan river port on the Amur rather than at the airport. Forwarders therefore work through Jiamusi Dongjiao (JMU), roughly 400 road kilometres away, or Harbin Taiping (HRB) at around 800 kilometres, both served by road feeder service. Tourism to Heixiazi Island and to China's first sunrise accounts for most of the traffic FYJ does see.
