## Description

A dedicated US Customs and Border Protection facility broke ground at Fulton County Executive Airport / Charlie Brown Field (FTY, KFTY) in July 2026, so that international business jets can clear at the field itself instead of stopping at Hartsfield-Jackson. Ten kilometres west of downtown Atlanta, the 985-acre field is a general-aviation reliever: roughly 80,000 movements in 2025, none of them scheduled passenger or freighter services. Two fixed-base operators, Signature Aviation among them, provide ramp services, and the control tower and fire station are staffed around the clock, which is unusual in the metro area. There is no cargo terminal, no forwarder handling and no freight customs on site, so import and export consignments move through Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL) about 20 kilometres to the south-east, one of the largest cargo airports in the United States. Alternatives further out are Chattanooga (CHA), some 190 kilometres north, and Birmingham (BHM), roughly 230 kilometres west. The main runway is just under 1,770 metres and Fulton County plans to extend it to about 2,130 metres for longer business-jet legs.
