## Description

Hundred-kilo bluefin tuna, cut flowers and Kyushu vegetables: fresh produce is the signature cargo of Fukuoka Airport (IATA: FUK). The cargo zone next to the international terminal — where Swissport runs a modern air freight warehouse — turns over roughly 280 tonnes of international freight and mail every day, and total annual volume came to about 315,000 tonnes in 2022. ANA Cargo and JAL provide the backbone of belly capacity, supported by dense services to Korea, China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Few major airports sit closer to town: the subway reaches Hakata Station in about five minutes. After decades on a single congested runway, the airport opened its second runway in March 2025. The seaport of Hakata, with ferry links to Busan, lies only a few kilometres away, and the Kyushu Expressway connects directly. As the island's semiconductor industry expands, demand for air cargo capacity out of FUK is rising with it.
