## Description

ANA Wings and Oriental Air Bridge are the only carriers at Fukue Airport (FUJ/RJFE), the Nagasaki Prefecture field that keeps the Gotō Islands connected to Kyushu with a 2,000-metre runway and some 135,000 passengers in fiscal 2013. Turboprop services run to Fukuoka and Nagasaki, and every kilo of freight travels as belly cargo in those passenger aircraft. There is no dedicated cargo terminal, no freighter handling and no customs post: FUJ is a domestic-only airport, so international consignments clear elsewhere. Outbound volumes are classic island goods - fresh fish, camellia oil, farm produce - while anything heavy or palletised moves on the Kyushu Shosen ferries and jetfoils to Nagasaki, about 100 kilometres east. Forwarders should therefore route Gotō shipments through Nagasaki (NGS) or Fukuoka (FUK) and plan the final leg by sea or belly capacity. The airport has carried the nickname Gotō Tsubaki Airport since 2014, after the camellia that symbolises the archipelago. At Fukuoka, the second runway and the enlarged international terminal opened in March 2025 add capacity to that upstream gateway.
