## Description

Frankfurt-Egelsbach (ICAO: EDFE) is a busy airfield with no freight business at all: more than 80,000 movements a year make it one of Europe's most active general and business aviation fields, yet it handles no air cargo. The operator is Hessische Flugplatz GmbH Egelsbach, and the field lies between Egelsbach and Erzhausen in the Offenbach district of southern Hesse, roughly ten kilometres south of Frankfurt Airport and directly beneath its airspace. Its asphalt runway of about 1,400 metres accommodates business jets up to Gulfstream or Challenger size but no freighter aircraft, and there is no scheduled airline service. On site are hangars, maintenance shops, flight schools and both AVGAS 100LL and Jet A-1, but neither a cargo terminal nor a permanently staffed customs office for goods imports. For forwarders, EDFE is therefore relevant only for urgent on-board courier shipments on charter jets, not for palletised freight. Rhine-Main air cargo runs through Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Europe's largest freight station with more than two million tonnes a year, backed by Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN) for round-the-clock night operations and Cologne/Bonn (CGN) for express traffic.
