## Description

The Comarca Lagunera - dairy, mining, steel and automotive supply - is the economic base behind Francisco Sarabia International Airport (IATA: TRC, ICAO: MMTC), which handled 842,608 passengers in 2025 according to operator OMA and is the busiest airport in the Mexican state of Coahuila. It serves the La Laguna conurbation of Torreón, Gómez Palacio and Ciudad Lerdo, home to dairy group Grupo Lala, the Peñoles mining and metals company and a cluster of automotive suppliers. Air cargo moves almost entirely as belly freight on domestic services to Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Tijuana; no regular freighter operation is confirmed. The airport lies at about 1,124 metres above sea level, a few kilometres east of the city on federal highway 40 towards Saltillo and Monterrey. Intercontinental and heavy shipments are therefore consolidated through Monterrey (MTY) some 400 road kilometres away, Mexico's second cargo hub, or through Felipe Ángeles (NLU) near Mexico City. Road links to Ciudad Juárez and the Texas border crossings also make Torreón a trucking node on the north-south corridor.
