## Description

One of the oldest documented communities in the Northwest Territories, Fort Resolution grew from a late-18th-century fur-trade post on the south shore of Great Slave Lake, near the Slave River delta. YFR (ICAO: CYFR), operated by the territorial government, handles charter, resupply and medevac flights rather than scheduled services, and has no cargo terminal or customs post. The all-weather Highway 6 from Hay River, a good 150 road kilometres west, carries most goods overland, with lake shipping adding capacity in summer. Forwarders consolidate any air freight at Yellowknife (YZF) or Hay River (YHY), from where turboprop charter or trucking covers the final leg. Air freight into this community is therefore planned as a combined air-and-road move, not as a direct flight.
