## Description

Set in Madagascar's southern highlands at about 1,115 metres, Fianarantsoa Airport (WFI/FMSF), locally also known as Beravina, is run by the state operator ADEMA. Its single asphalt runway of roughly 1,250 metres limits operations to smaller turboprops: freighter aircraft cannot work here, and there is neither a cargo terminal nor a dedicated air-freight customs post. Scheduled service is thin and, when operated, is flown by Air Madagascar's domestic arm Tsaradia, so air cargo is confined to small belly consignments. Regional produce — wine, rice, tea and fruit — therefore moves by truck along national road RN7, some 400 kilometres to Antananarivo, and leaves the country through Ivato (TNR) by air or through the seaport of Toamasina by sea. The historic Fianarantsoa–Côte Est (FCE) narrow-gauge railway also links the city to Manakara on the east coast, but it is vulnerable to cyclones and weather damage and is no reliable option for time-critical goods. Shippers serving southern Madagascar should plan on TNR as the entry gateway plus a road leg of several days.
