## Description

Fernando de Noronha is a tourism destination, not a freight node: the UNESCO-listed archipelago some 350 kilometres off Pernambuco caps visitor numbers and levies an environmental fee. Officially named Governador Carlos Wilson Airport (FEN/SBFN), it is Brazil's easternmost commercial airport and is served only by passenger airlines, with Gol, LATAM and Azul flying in from Recife (REC) and São Paulo Guarulhos (GRU). It is not run by the federal operator Infraero but under a concession from the state of Pernambuco held by the private company Dix Empreendimentos. There is no cargo terminal, no freighter handling and no dedicated air-freight customs post. The island is supplied by ship from Recife and by belly capacity on scheduled passenger flights, so forwarders route air cargo for north-east Brazil through Recife (REC) or Natal (NAT) and transship it there.
