## Description

Textiles, silk, fruit and vegetables from the Fergana Valley are the goods that give Fergana International Airport (IATA: FEG) its freight relevance in eastern Uzbekistan. Contrary to its reputation as a purely passenger field, the airport has a cargo terminal with bonded and non-bonded warehousing, roughly 3,000 cubic metres of storage and an annual throughput capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes, able to accept general cargo, temperature-controlled goods, dangerous goods and oversize consignments according to the UN Logistics Cluster capacity assessment. Storage requires a cargo manifest, an air waybill and a customs declaration. No freight airline is based here, so lift comes from belly capacity on Uzbekistan Airways, Centrum Air and Turkish and Russian operators. Uzbekistan announced a full modernisation in 2026 covering runway extension and widening plus new passenger and cargo terminals to replace facilities more than thirty years old, with foreign operators explicitly invited to participate. Larger and intercontinental shipments still route through Tashkent (TAS), about 320 road kilometres away over the Kamchik pass, or through Navoi (NVI), the country's dedicated cargo airport.
