## Description

The field is named for John Felts, a Washington National Guard pilot killed in a 1927 crash – the same year Charles Lindbergh landed here with the Spirit of St. Louis on his victory tour. Felts Field on the Spokane River was the city's original commercial airport and one of the first officially recognized airfields in the American West; its 1932 Art Deco terminal is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today the field hosts flight schools, charter operators and private aircraft. Scheduled service and cargo moved across town generations ago – Spokane International handles both, with FedEx and UPS on its ramps. History stayed behind, beautifully preserved.
