## Description

AIRiminum 2014 S.p.A., the operator of Federico Fellini International Airport (IATA: RMI, ICAO: LIPR), reported more than 442,000 passengers in the first eight months of 2026, already beating the whole of 2025, with 115,507 travellers in August 2026 alone, up 66 per cent year on year. The single runway measures 3,340 metres, the longest in Emilia-Romagna, so the field is technically capable of accepting freighters. In practice the traffic is Ryanair, Wizz Air, easyJet, British Airways and Neos, low-cost and leisure carriers that offer very little belly capacity, and no operating cargo terminal or scheduled freighter service is confirmed at Rimini. The airport's 2018-2033 master plan does foresee a dedicated cargo logistics platform on site. Air freight for the Romagna coast therefore moves through Bologna Guglielmo Marconi (BLQ) about 110 kilometres to the northwest, Italy's third cargo airport with 45,466 tonnes in 2025 and a cargo terminal refurbished in 2024 for EUR 3.5 million including refrigerated cells; Forlì (FRL) lies some 50 kilometres away and Ancona Falconara (AOI) around 90 kilometres to the south. Rimini also serves the Republic of San Marino, which forms a customs union with the EU but applies its own import formalities and the monofase import tax. Shippers should plan on clearing at Bologna and a short truck leg down the A14.
