## Description

Ethiopian Airlines, Neos, Air Austral, Airlink and EWA Air are the international names at Fascene Airport (NOS/FMNN), the gateway to the Madagascan resort island of Nosy Be, alongside Madagascar Airlines on domestic routes. Ethiopian links the island to Addis Ababa, Air Austral to Saint-Denis on Réunion and Airlink to Johannesburg, while Neos is the only carrier flying non-stop from Europe — year-round from Wrocław and seasonally from Milan, Rome and Verona. All of that capacity is belly capacity: no dedicated freighter serves the field. Perishables, notably seafood, make up much of what leaves by air, which puts a premium on an unbroken cold chain up to the apron. For larger volumes, consolidation and full export processing, shippers still turn to Ivato (TNR) near the capital, some 700 kilometres south, with Antsiranana (DIE) as the option for the far north. Because the island is reached from the mainland only by ferry from Ankify, air and sea are effectively the only routes for time-critical goods.
