## Description

Faisalabad is Pakistan's textile capital, yet its airport handled just 52 tonnes of air cargo in the 2024/25 fiscal year — up about 13 percent, but a marginal figure. Faisalabad International Airport (IATA: LYP, ICAO: OPFA) processes freight only as belly cargo on scheduled services; there is no dedicated cargo terminal, no freighter operation and no cold-chain facility. Six airlines served seven destinations from LYP in mid-2026, among them Pakistan International Airlines, flydubai and Fly Jinnah, with the Gulf (Dubai, Sharjah) as the main market alongside domestic routes and Hajj and Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia. Pakistan Customs clears on site, which makes the airport workable for small time-critical consignments such as textile samples and machinery spares. Bulk garment and textile exports, however, leave through the far larger cargo facilities at Lahore (LHE), roughly 130 kilometres away, or Karachi (KHI), and much of the volume goes by sea from Karachi and Port Qasim. For forwarders, LYP is a feeder for the textile belt, not an export gateway in its own right.
