## Description

Faisalabad is Pakistan's textile heartland — often called the country's Manchester — and that industry defines air cargo at Faisalabad International Airport (LYP). Time-sensitive garment and textile exports form the core of freight here, moving mainly as belly cargo on Pakistan International Airlines services and through express couriers such as TCS, with the Persian Gulf (Dubai, Sharjah) as the principal market. Alongside domestic routes, LYP operates international services to the Middle East and Hajj/Umrah flights to Saudi Arabia. A new, larger dedicated cargo complex able to handle freighter aircraft is under development, though specialised cold-chain facilities for perishables are not yet in place. Bulk and intercontinental freight still routes mainly through the larger cargo facilities at Lahore (about 130 km) and Karachi. Customs clearance is provided on site by Pakistan Customs.
