## Description

Fuel drums, drilling spares, groceries and mining equipment fly out of Eugene F. Correia International Airport (OGL) every day, and gold comes back — this is Guyana's working domestic air link rather than an international freight station. Operated by Ogle Airport Inc. six kilometres east of Georgetown on the Atlantic coast, the field now handles more than 200 landings a day, making it one of the busiest in the Caribbean. Trans Guyana Airways and Roraima Airways serve interior airstrips at gold and diamond mines, Amerindian villages and oil-and-gas camps with Cessna Caravans and Britten-Norman Islanders; there is no freighter operation. Intercontinental consignments instead clear customs at Cheddi Jagan International (GEO) in Timehri, some 40 kilometres south of the capital. During 2025 the operator expanded apron, drainage and cargo infrastructure and announced eleven further capital projects worth about G$204 million, while interCaribbean Airways began scheduled service to OGL in December 2025. For shippers the split is simple: GEO for international movements, OGL for distribution into a hinterland that roads barely reach.
