## Description

Ryanair, Transavia, easyJet and Air Arabia Maroc account for almost all traffic at Essaouira-Mogador Airport (ESU/GMMI), an airport built around seasonal leisure demand rather than freight. The terminal, opened in 2010 and run by Morocco's national airport authority ONDA, is sized for roughly 300,000 passengers a year and sits at El Ghazoua some 17 kilometres southeast of the medina. A Paris-Beauvais service added in March 2025 extended an already European-dominated route map to the windswept Atlantic coast. There is no cargo terminal, no freighter operation and no commercial cargo customs process; belly space on these narrowbody holiday flights is not marketed as air freight capacity. Exporters of argan oil, fish and handicrafts truck consignments roughly 175 road kilometres to Marrakech Menara (RAK), or onward to Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN), Morocco's principal air cargo airport. For ocean freight the relevant ports are Agadir and Casablanca, since Essaouira's own harbour serves fishing vessels only.
