## Description

Helicopters of the Louisiana National Guard clatter over the pine woods north-east of Alexandria, where Esler Army Airfield shares a single field with the civil Esler Regional Airport (IATA: ESF, ICAO: KESF). The Guard has held the site on a 99-year lease from the Rapides Parish Police Jury since 2001 and runs Army Aviation Support Facility #2 here alongside exercises for neighbouring Camp Beauregard; roughly 60 per cent of movements are military, the remainder general aviation.
