## Description

Sitting just east of Colón's harbour at the Caribbean mouth of the Panama Canal, Enrique Adolfo Jiménez Airport (IATA: ONX) occupies the site of the former France Field US air base, reopened in 2013 with a new terminal and a runway able to take aircraft up to the Boeing 757. Its surroundings form Panama's densest logistics cluster: the Colón Free Trade Zone, the world's second-largest by turnover, together with the Manzanillo (MIT), Cristóbal and Colón Container Terminal seaports. The airport's scheduled service, however, is limited to flights to Panama City, and it handles no meaningful air cargo. The region's vast goods flows move by sea and road instead. True air freight is processed at Tocumen International Airport (PTY) on the Pacific side of the canal. For forwarders, ONX is best read as a reference point within this trade hub rather than a cargo airport itself.
