## Description

Grant Aviation was born here in 1971 as Delta Air Services, and the Yukon Delta village that named it remains a base of the airline, which now serves over 100 western Alaska communities. Emmonak (IATA: EMK, ICAO: PAEM), the delta's largest community at about 800 residents, has no road access — the runway is its only year-round link. Grant Aviation and other regional carriers connect to the Bethel hub, moving passengers, Bypass Mail and general freight, while summer barges land fuel and cargo on the riverbank. The village was long home to Kwik'pak Fisheries, the only commercial marketer of Yukon River salmon, an industry largely shut down since the river's salmon runs collapsed and fishing was closed.
