## Description

1,700 metres of asphalt on runway 08/26, at just over 950 metres elevation, now mostly serve flight training: El Lencero (JAL/MMJA) has had no scheduled airline service since Aeromar withdrew its Mexico City link in 2017, and today handles training, general aviation and government movements. The airport is run by the state-owned Servicios Aeroportuarios de Veracruz, sits near Emiliano Zapata and nominally serves Xalapa, capital of Veracruz state. No cargo terminal, cold-chain capacity or customs post for commercial consignments is documented, and no freighter flights operate. Regional air cargo is handled at Veracruz (VER) airport some 100 road kilometres away, while the port of Veracruz — Mexico's principal Atlantic seaport, linked to Xalapa by motorway — carries the state's actual import and export volumes. Forwarders should therefore treat JAL as a charter and special-flight field, routing shipments from Europe through Mexico City (MEX) or VER and onward by truck.
