## Description

Three flights a week, all of them from Medellín's downtown Olaya Herrera airport, make up the entire scheduled service at El Bagre Airport (EBG/SKEB), a regional field in the Bajo Cauca gold-mining district of Antioquia with no freight handling at all. The 180-kilometre hop takes about 50 minutes and is flown by state carrier Satena with small turboprop equipment, which caps loads at courier and accompanied-baggage size. EBG has no cargo terminal, no customs post and no dangerous-goods capability, so international consignments cannot be processed here. Air freight for the mining and farming area along the Río Nechí is cleared at Medellín-Rionegro (MDE) or Bogotá-El Dorado (BOG) and trucked in via Caucasia or the Zaragoza road. That road leg from Medellín takes roughly seven to nine hours depending on surface condition, which is why urgent items often travel as accompanied baggage on the passenger flights instead. Heavy mining equipment reaches the region by truck or by river barge on the Nechí and Cauca in any case.
