## Description

Set deep in the Amazon rainforest with no continuous road link to the rest of Brazil, Manaus relies on Eduardo Gomes International Airport to keep its factories supplied. Components arrive and finished products leave largely by air, backed by the Amazon river ports. The pull is the Manaus Free Trade Zone, whose plants assemble smartphones, motorcycles, televisions and appliances and make this Brazil's third-busiest cargo airport. Three cargo terminals totalling some 49,000 square metres handle up to 12,000 tonnes per month, fitted with stacker cranes for 128 ULDs. VINCI Airports has held the concession since January 2022 on a 30-year term and completed upgrades across seven northern Brazilian airports in late 2024. Customs and the SUFRAMA authority administer the free-trade rules on site, while LATAM Cargo, Avianca Cargo and Atlas Air move the volumes. A general tariff increase of 5.9% took effect on 1 January 2026. For forwarders, every supply chain serving the Amazon industrial cluster runs through here.
