## Description

Dzhankoy was once known chiefly as a railway junction in northern Crimea — today the name stands for a contested military airfield. Since the annexation of the peninsula in 2014, Russian forces have used Dzhankoy Air Base, among other things, as a helicopter base; over the course of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the site has repeatedly been targeted by Ukrainian strikes. There is no civilian air traffic. No air cargo is handled; Ukrainian air freight is currently routed via road feeder services to EU airports such as Rzeszów (IATA: RZE).
