## Description

Opened in 2014, Dutse International Airport (ICAO DNDS, also Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi International) in Nigeria's northern Jigawa State carries the word "international" but has seen very little traffic — in practice mainly the annual pilgrimage flights to Saudi Arabia. No cargo operation is running: the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria approved the installation of cargo facilities in February 2026, part of the state's plan to build a handling point for perishable exports. Until those facilities are live, northern Nigeria's air freight moves through Mallam Aminu Kano International (KAN) some 130 road kilometres west, with Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe (ABV) for intercontinental connections.
