## Description

A single 1,900-metre runway with ILS at both ends, on-site customs and biosecurity, and roughly 850,000 passengers in 2025 define DUD (ICAO NZDN) as the air access point for Otago and Southland. Air New Zealand operates about 86 percent of departures, Jetstar adds domestic capacity, and the sole scheduled international route runs to Australia's Gold Coast (OOL). Freight rides in the belly of those passenger services and is handled through Air New Zealand Cargo; no dedicated freighter operation is confirmed at the field. Intercontinental consignments are consolidated at Christchurch (CHC), some 360 road kilometres north, or at Auckland (AKL), while Invercargill (IVC) lies about 190 kilometres to the south. The airport sits at Momona, a little over 30 kilometres southwest of the city, so every shipment begins and ends with a truck leg. Terminal areas were recently rebuilt and reopened with a new lounge and restaurant, following the 1,200-square-metre expansion completed in 2020.
