## Description

Dundo is the capital of Lunda Norte, one of the world's most significant diamond-mining provinces, and its airport (DUE) functions first of all as a passenger and supply gateway to that region. The field was upgraded through the 2010s — a new terminal in 2012 and a runway extension in 2014 for larger aircraft. High-value diamonds and mining equipment, however, tend to move under secured specialist transport and via dedicated mine airstrips such as Catoca's, rather than through an open cargo terminal. Conventional, schedulable airfreight in the forwarding sense barely arises at Dundo itself. International shipments are consolidated through Angola's main gateway, NBJ near Luanda. With road access to this remote northeast still demanding, the air link matters mostly for people and urgent goods.
