## Description

Three carriers have now come and gone at Dubuque Regional Airport (IATA: DBQ, ICAO: KDBQ), and the last one left on 15 January 2026: Denver Air Connection ended the daily Chicago O'Hare service it had flown since November 2024 once federal funding and the local revenue guarantee ran out, with loads around 50 percent against the 80 percent needed to break even. Business and general aviation now carry the field, which sits about eight kilometres south of the city where Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin meet. There is no scheduled cargo handling, no freight terminal and no customs post — and the heavy construction equipment built at John Deere's Dubuque Works has always left by rail, road and Mississippi barge anyway. Air freight for the tri-state area moves through The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) at Cedar Rapids, roughly an hour's drive south-west and the nearest field with integrator presence, or through Chicago O'Hare (ORD) for international shipments. Since 1 March 2026 a private curb-to-curb shuttle has linked Dubuque with Cedar Rapids, replacing the lost flight for many travellers and urgent consignments.
