Roughly 35,000 aircraft movements a year across a single 6,005-foot grooved asphalt runway, and not one of them a scheduled airline flight: Drake Field (FYV/KFYV) south of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is a FAR Part 139 Type IV certificated general aviation field. It handles corporate, charter, military, training and recreational traffic from a staffed control tower and a general aviation terminal. Until Northwest Arkansas National (XNA) opened at Highfill in 1998, Drake Field was the region's airline gateway, with Central Airlines and Frontier serving Dallas, Memphis and St. Louis.
