## Description

Set in the northern interior of Ceará, about 235 kilometres from the state capital Fortaleza, Dr. Luciano de Arruda Coelho Regional Airport (JSO) serves the city of Sobral and its textile, cement and university economy. Azul links the airport to Fortaleza three times a week, the only scheduled service since commercial operations began in 2023. JSO is a passenger facility without a cargo terminal, integrators or handling agents. Air freight for the Sobral region is therefore consolidated at Fortaleza's Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR), reached by federal highway. Built on 180 hectares with a 1.8-kilometre runway, the new airport replaced Sobral's cramped inner-city aerodrome.
