## Description

13,000 square metres of dedicated cargo terminal, 130,000 tonnes of annual throughput and headroom to 440,000: the TECA facility at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ/FNBJ) is Angola's first purpose-built air freight infrastructure. It handles general cargo, temperature-controlled goods, pharmaceuticals, perishables and dangerous goods, and has been working since cargo operations began in late 2023 — ahead of the passenger move. TAAG Angola Airlines shifted its international hub here in October 2025, and in March 2026 the transfer of scheduled services from the old Quatro de Fevereiro (LAD) was completed; the airport is designed for up to 15 million passengers a year. Roughly 40 km south of Luanda in Ícolo e Bengo, NBJ is connected to the capital and the Port of Luanda by new expressways, keeping road feeder legs short though exposed to city traffic. Customs sits with Angola's tax and customs authority AGT, and importers should plan for advance declaration, complete documentation and inspection. Because Angolan trade leans on oil, extraction and industrial equipment plus project cargo shape the freight mix more than consumer consolidations. As the capital region's only international airport, NBJ is the entry point for air freight into Angola, with Lubango (SDD) and Catumbela (CBT) as regional alternatives.
