## Description

Built for 130,000 tonnes of cargo a year and scalable to 440,000, the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) is Angola's purpose-built freight gateway, replacing the old downtown LAD in March 2026. Its dedicated air cargo terminal, TECA, spans roughly 13,000 m² and handles general freight, temperature-controlled goods, pharmaceuticals, perishables and dangerous goods, with cargo flights running since November 2023. The airport sits about 40 km south of Luanda in Ícolo e Bengo, linked to the capital and the Port of Luanda by new expressways. TAAG Angola Airlines moved its international hub here in October 2025 and bases maintenance and MRO activity on site. Customs clearance falls to Angola's tax-and-customs authority AGT, with mandatory pre-shipment inspection and full documentation for importers. Because Angola's trade leans heavily on oil, the freight mix is dominated by extraction and industrial equipment plus project shipments rather than consumer consolidations.
