## Description

2,500 metres of runway since 2025, narrow-body jet capability from the same year, and full operations only since February 2024: Douw Aturure (NBX) is one of Papua's newest and fastest-changing airports. President Joko Widodo inaugurated it in November 2023. Wings Air, Lion Air, Sriwijaya Air and Batik Air link Nabire with Timika, Sentani and Rendani, while Smart Aviation operates pioneer flights to the roadless highland settlements of Enarotali, Mulia, Ilaga and Waghete. Those feeder services make NBX a collection and distribution point for highland supply — food, fuel and general cargo. For wider and international freight, Makassar–Sultan Hasanuddin (UPG) stays the consolidation point, reached via Sentani (DJJ) and Timika.
