## Description

Approaching Douglas-Charles, pilots thread between steep ridges and the Atlantic surf of Dominica's northeast coast — a setting that long limited the runway to roughly 1,800 metres and the traffic to turboprops and regional jets. interCaribbean, Winair and seasonal American Eagle services link the island via San Juan, Antigua and other Eastern Caribbean points. There is no rail on Dominica, and its banana and produce exports leave by sea, so air freight is confined to belly capacity. Shipments needing real volume route through San Juan (SJU) or Antigua (ANU). For forwarders, DOM is a feeder node, not a cargo terminal.
