## Description

Doris Lake (IATA: JOJ) was a privately operated ice runway on frozen Doris Lake in Nunavut, open from January to April to supply the Hope Bay gold project; the lake ice had to be thickened by about 90 centimetres to take Boeing 737 aircraft. The mine now relies on a year-round gravel airstrip at Doris and on the port at Roberts Bay, and the ice runway is no longer in regular use. There is no public traffic, no third-party freight handling and no customs post; commercial air cargo for the central Arctic routes through Cambridge Bay (YCB) and Yellowknife (YZF), supplemented by the summer sealift.
