## Description

Unlike Cam Ranh or Da Nang further along the same coast, Dong Tac (TBB/VVTH) — the civil airport of Tuy Hoa in central Vietnam — offers no freight infrastructure at all. It handled 506,838 passengers in 2023, close to its designed ceiling of roughly 550,000, which is why the Airports Corporation of Vietnam plans an upgrade to ICAO 4C standard with three million passengers a year by 2030 and five million by 2050, adding terminal space and apron capacity for A320, A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft. The former Phu Yen province has been merged into Dak Lak province under Vietnam's provincial reform, a detail worth knowing when older shipping addresses and customs paperwork are involved. A wartime US air base in origin, the airport today has no cargo terminal, no freighter services and no dedicated air-cargo customs post, so consignments travel only as belly load on scheduled flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Forwarders route planned air freight through Cam Ranh (CXR), about 120 road kilometres to the south, or for intercontinental volumes through Tan Son Nhat (SGN) some 460 kilometres away and Da Nang (DAD) roughly 400 kilometres north, all along National Highway 1.
