## Description

Dom Ricardo Weberberger Regional Airport of Western Bahia (IATA: BRA, ICAO: SNBR) serves Barreiras and the farming country of western Bahia, one of Brazil's major soybean and cotton regions; it is named after the Austrian-born bishop Ricardo Weberberger. Azul links the airport with Salvador and Belo Horizonte-Confins, but there are no freighter services and no cargo terminal — soy, maize and cotton leave the region by road and rail towards the ports of Ilhéus and Salvador. A roughly BRL 66 million upgrade has been under way since 2025, extending the runway from 1,600 to 1,950 metres and adding a new passenger terminal, which will allow aircraft of the Airbus A319 and Embraer E195-E2 class.
