## Description

Despite older listings that treat it as a freight point, Dolinsk-Sokol is a reserve military airfield of the Russian Aerospace Forces on Sakhalin Island, about eight kilometres south of the town of Dolinsk. Laid out in 1945, it has a 2,500-metre concrete runway (02/20) and numerous hardened aircraft shelters; for forty years it was home to the 777th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the air defence forces, flying Su-15, MiG-23 and Su-27, alongside a helicopter regiment with Mi-8 and Mi-24. There is no civil IATA or ICAO code, no freight terminal and no customs post for forwarder shipments. Air cargo on Sakhalin is handled at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Khomutovo (UUS) some 40 kilometres to the south, the island's only civil airport, with Vladivostok (VVO) as the wider Russian Far East option. Shippers should also note that consignments to and from Russia have been subject to extensive EU and Swiss sanctions and mutual airspace closures since 2022, which sharply constrain routing, goods screening and payment. In operational terms, Dolinsk-Sokol is of no relevance to forwarders.
