## Description

Doko airfield (ICAO: FZJB) in Haut-Uélé province, north-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, was substantially upgraded to serve the neighbouring Kibali gold mine and now has an asphalt runway of about 1,900 metres at roughly 876 metres elevation. The mine is held by Kibali Goldmines SA, owned 45 per cent each by Barrick and AngloGold Ashanti and 10 per cent by state miner SOKIMO, so flight activity supports company personnel and materials rather than an open freight market. There is no public cargo terminal and no generally accessible customs facility. Heavy equipment mostly reaches this remote region overland through Uganda — the border town of Arua lies some 210 kilometres away — so forwarders usually plan air freight via Entebbe (EBB), with Kinshasa N'djili (FIH) as the domestic alternative.
