## Description

From the 1960s until 2014, Doha International Airport (DIA/OTBD) was Qatar's sole commercial airport and the original home of Qatar Airways. When Hamad International opened five kilometres away, all scheduled passenger and cargo traffic moved across, and the old field was repurposed for the Qatar Amiri Flight's government and VIP aircraft as well as military users. It briefly returned to commercial service during the 2022 FIFA World Cup to relieve capacity. No regular freight handling remains at DIA; forwarders route every air cargo shipment for Qatar through DOH's cargo terminal.
