## Description

Air Algérie and the carrier formerly known as Tassili Airlines - transferred from Sonatrach to Air Algérie in June 2025 and rebranded Domestic Airlines that July - fly the lifeline route between Algiers and Inedbirene Airport (DJG/DAAJ), some 30 kilometres outside Djanet. The airport's role is tourism: it is the entry point to the Tassili n'Ajjer, a UNESCO landscape famous for prehistoric rock art, and frequencies thicken over the cool October-to-March season. There is no cargo terminal, no freighter service and no international customs post, so air freight is confined to belly loads in passenger aircraft, typically spare parts, medicines and equipment for the tourism trade and local administration. Everything else reaches Djanet by road, more than 2,000 kilometres from Algiers via Ouargla and Illizi, which means supply runs are planned in convoys with multi-day transit times. For planned cargo volumes the reference remains Algiers Houari Boumediene (ALG), with Ouargla (OGX) as a closer staging point in the south. Deep-Sahara distances, not aircraft capacity, are the binding constraint here.
