## Description

Turkish Airlines, AJet, Pegasus and SunExpress carry the bulk of traffic at Diyarbakır Airport (DIY/LTCC), which handled 2,292,693 passengers in 2025 and is the busiest airport in south-eastern Anatolia. The field is shared with the Turkish Air Force, and its 2015 terminal is sized for more than three million travellers a year. International traffic grew by roughly a quarter in 2025 to some 213,000 passengers, but the route map stays overwhelmingly domestic, centred on Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir. There are no scheduled freighter services and no dedicated cargo terminal: consignments move as belly cargo, while palletised and export freight is routed through Gaziantep (GZT, about 330 kilometres west) or Şanlıurfa GAP (GNY, roughly 180 kilometres south-west). Much of the region's foreign trade never sees an aircraft at all, moving overland to Iraq through the Habur border crossing near Silopi or to the Mediterranean ports of Mersin and Iskenderun for deep-sea shipping. For forwarders, DIY works as a dependable feeder for express parcels, spare parts and documents rather than as a handling point for pallet freight.
